Mindwerx Online Lecturing in the USA

Through July and into August Bill and Jennifer had the pleasure of spending six weeks in the United States.  The main purpose was to lecture at the University of Southern Maine (USM), but they also caught up with a number of friends and colleagues from Boston, New York and Washington.

The lecturing at USM was the culmination of a 12 week Online course on Deliberate Creativity & Innovation, which had begun a couple of months prior to our intrepid travellers from meeting with students at the USM campus in Lewiston-Auburn, Maine.

The course was similar to the program Bill convenes at Swinburne University in Melbourne, and is based on the various corporate programs Mindwerx runs with clients.

The USM course was unique in that it is almost totally online, with each weekly lesson consisting of a series of short video and audio programs, course notes, templates and a set of actions for students to complete.  Blogging on relevant was also a feature that allowed Bill and Jennifer to interact with students throughout.

The series of face-to-face lectures in July allow our team to get direct feedback from students and to show them how Deliberate Creative Thinking works in a team setting.

It is fair to say the program was a huge success, and in 2010 USM will again be offering the course in a fully online version.  Over the next year we then intend to offer it to a wider range of universities and schools, as well as a corporate program.

The beauty of the online program is that any number of people can be involved, and can in some cases be done at a pace that fits participant needs.
