Is Training Expensive ? try ignorance!

Our friend Janelle Nisbet (from http://www.progress.com.au/) passed on this story from Marilynn Semonick from The Success Studio in Detroit, Mi USA, :

On January 15th of this year, 58 year old Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger III skillfully landed US Airways flight 1549 into the Hudson River, saving all 155 passengers and crew members in the process. When asked how it did it, he explained:

"For 42 years I’ve been making small, regular deposits in the bank of experience, education and training. And, on January 15 the balance was sufficient so that I could make a very large withdrawal."

According to Sully, regular deposits of experience, education and training are critical, since you never know when you’ll be called upon to apply yourself.

So I ask myself: What are you deliberately doing to learn & bank your experiences so they can translate into wisdom and elegant application when you need them?

Is training expensive? Try ignorance.
