Try this creativity test.. How many things can make from a piece of wire?……

Each year at Mindwerx we set ourselves a creative challenge to send something other than a standard greeting card. We want to help stimulate your creativity and give you something fun to think about over the festive season.

This year our theme is Creativity on a Wire, inspired by the enclosed Wine Whirl, created by the Vocational Class at St Vincent School for the Deaf*, South Africa.

Obviously, you can whirl this around the stem of a wine glass. However, that’s too easy… What else can you do with beads on a wire? How many uses are there?

Play with it and come up with as many different uses as you can. Ask the kids or members of your team.

Take a photo and upload it to the Mind exchange with the tag ‘wired’ for chance at fame and glory!

Here are some early entries:

Think you can beat these?

Background on St Vincent School for the Deaf, South Africa…
In October 2008, Bill and Jennifer were privileged to speak at the African Creativity Conference (ACRE 14), the largest of its type in the world. While there, they came across some ‘Wine Whirls’ at a local market and were inspired by the creativity of a small school who choose to do something positive, creative and innovative to raise much needed funds.

The St Vincent School for the Deaf does a great job for students of all ages and backgrounds in a country where things are still getting settled. They recently had to close their boarding school due to lack of funds. One mother now travels two hours on the bus with her daughter, patiently waits until school finishes to then travel home on the bus – every day.

Both Bill and Jennifer fell in love with South Africa and the courage of its people and, to make a long story short, Mindwerx International and the Buzan Centre Australia/NZ are now supporting the school by committing to buy hundreds of Wine Whirls each year to use in our workshops and events.
