Dr Darren Coomber, CEO, InnovationXChange

Darren Coomber is the CEO of the InnovationXChange in Australia and an IXC Senior Intermediary.

Darren has a broad background in scientific research, commercialisation and consultancy in both the public and private sectors. His technical background includes a PhD in Chemistry and experience ranging from theoretical electrochemistry through to paediatric pain management. Darren’s passion for collaboration has come from his first-hand knowledge of taking innovations to market through collaborations across disciplines, companies and borders.

 

Sarah Pearson, DPhil (Oxon), working with the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Innovation and Advancement at the Australian National University

Sarah has driven open, closed and connected approaches to strategic innovation initiatives in industry, academia and government. She has successfully applied these approaches as Open Innovation Champion at Cadbury plc; as an academic with patented bio-technology; and to the development of long-term innovation planning for the Prime Minister’s Science, Engineering and Innovation Council.

As inaugural Open Innovation Champion at Cadbury plc Sarah was responsible for the development and implementation of Cadbury’s Open Innovation strategy, as well as growing an international team and rolling out the new approach throughout the global Cadbury R&D group.

Until recently, Sarah was the Director of Science in the Office of the Chief Scientist. The major focus of her work was on supporting the work of the Prime Minister’s Science, Engineering and Innovation Council (PMSEIC).

Sarah currently works with the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Innovation and Advancement at the Australian National University on special innovation projects.

 

 

Marita Batty, Senior Associate, Freehills

Marita is a senior associate at Freehills specialising in all aspects of intellectual property law. Marita regularly advises clients on the commercialisation, protection and management of intellectual property rights and has drafted and negotiated a wide range of intellectual property, R&D and technology commercialisation agreements. Marita has acted for clients in a range of industries, including the healthcare and biotechnology sectors.
